CALIFORNIA DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL VISIT  ON MONDAY, APRIL 14

Vista’s California Distinguished School Validation Visit is this Monday, April 14.  This is an important day to show the visiting team from the Ventura County Office of Education what TEAM Vista is all about.  We will be showcasing the improvements we have made in the area of technology and what it means to be a STEM focus school.  We would like all of our students to wear their Vista t-shirts/sweatshirts or school colors (royal blue and gold) on Monday, April 14, for the California Distinguished School visit.  Let’s show our T.E.A.M. spirit!!!  We appreciate everyone who came out for Pride Day in preparation for this special day!

CALIFORNIA ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT PERFORMANCE AND PROGRESS (CAASPP)

The CAASPP is replacing the STAR tests for students in grades 3-6.  These new digitally formatted exams are aligned to the Common Core State Standards.  SVUSD will administer field tests to students (grades 3-6) from April 7 – May 16.  The field test is a “test of the test” and our students will not be scored on the tests this spring, but will be given an opportunity to see what these new tests are like before the scores count in 2015.  We would encourage your and your student to preview test questions and format which is posted online:  http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sa/practicetest.asp
